Summary/Abstract: After 1945, health resorts were totally transformed, both as regards the treatment and therapeutical systems, and their administration. Health resorts, taken over by the state, became an integral part of the socialist national health service and a centrally managed economy. The article focuses mainly on socio-cultural aspects, taking up such questions as the character of health resorts or their proposal for patients. The purpose of the study is to demonstrate how the offer of health and rehabilitation resorts was reshaped in the post-war reality and what difficulties had to be overcome. A specificity of the inpatient care is presented when adult patients are housed in a sanatorium.
