Combating the new terrorism. From the technologic war to „Human Intelligence”

Summary/Abstract: In our quest of finding solutions to fight the new terrorism on its own ground, the study of the transformations involved by the Revolution in Military Affairs (RMA) becomes a necessity. Nevertheless, the mutation towards a “clean war”, based essentially on the technological superiority, leaves place to some limitations. Within the overall RMA, the human intelligence dimension was widely neglected in favour of the high-tech sector. Or, the understanding and infiltration of the local communities offer extremely valuable information for the success of counter-insurgency and counter-terrorist operations.
