Summary/Abstract: In this paper five funeral amphorae from Issa are published for the first time. They are dated in the hellenistic period. Only for one (no. 5) it is sure that it was found in a grave of a 2nd. cent. B.C. date, found at the Martvilo cemetery at Issa (note 2). For the other ones it is only known that they are from Issa. As they are completly preserved and as on them there are no traces of floral and faunal remains from the sea, it is thought that they too come from cemetery at Martvilo. There is some difference between them, especialy among rims. It is concidered that amphoras in the graves at Issa are a relatively rare feature in comparison with other hellenistic cemeteries on the Adriatic an the Mediterranean (notes 13-23). According to the author the presence of amphoras in graves is not much discussed in literature, and, as the evidence is large and various, the problem deserves a special study. At the end a catalogue of the amphorae is given.
