Summary/Abstract: In the text the author investigates how and to what extent the concept of considerate/sustainable development is culturally founded. In the first part the author analyses the basic definition of considerate/sustainable development and indicates that many objections could be directed at it from the viewpoint of importance of the way in which cultural ideas participate in shaping society. The author demonstrates that the idea of considerate/sustainable development lacks several determinants necessary for such activity. For example, it is not clear as to how future generations are autonomously represented; how the social time of transition from present to future is formed; the idea implies prejudice towards the linear connection between the present and future; finally, it reinforces the currently existing society in the role of monopolistic supervisor and social creator of future generations.
