Summary/Abstract: The article examines the influence of the civil media on the Bulgarian information society. The advantages and disadvantages of legal authorities in the protection of civil rights are presented. The features of the online environment are considered as a tool for the protection of democratic rights. The problems of social networks have been studied in the context of their use as a guarantor of free speech.
