Operator YOU KNOW (‘wiesz’) – Distinguishing Feature of Colloquial Communication

Summary/Abstract: The object of observation is the lexical units of the form you know (‘wiesz’),which functions mainly in the texts of colloquial Polish. During the analysis, first of all, attention is paid to showing of distinguishing between different lexical unitsfounded on the same graphic shape. The selected research procedures include meaning of specific units as well as the functions they perform. In the further part of the article, the subject of the analysis are the distinctive features of the unit you know (‘wiesz’). Besides, it is emphasized that apart from the function of referring to the common knowledge of the sender and recipient of the message, the lexical unit you know (‘wiesz’) participates in the implementation of textual addition mechanisms as well as confirmation mechanisms.
