O PERSPECTIVĂ TEORETICĂ ASUPRA JIHADULUI ÎN CORAN

Summary/Abstract: The current events undergoing in the Arab world, but not only, characterized by jihadism, a strong fundamentalist current, have imposed the deepening study of this concept, from various perspectives. This article aims to highlight the differences between the Islamic and Islamist approach towards Jihad, by studying its characteristics, the conditions under which it is required, the persons who can perform Jihad, how it approaches the martyrdom issue, its meaning and the treatment of the prisoners of war. The research was based on the analysis of the Qur’an text, which is also the primary source of lawmaking according to Sharia. By doing so, we intend to emphasize that peace or the house/abode of peace is a part of the faith in Islam, and the religion itself is a religion of peace and safety. The war was legislated in Islam for defensive purpose, and the ways of defence were well regulated, being allowed only on the battlefield, and not for terrorism nature manifestations
