Summary/Abstract: The article describes legal solutions in the organization of pastoral care in Polish prisons. The theme is presented in the context of analysis of regulations included in international and domestic law standards. Pastoral care to prisoners consists a community dimension of religious freedom, and churches as well as religious associations have in this respect the subjectivity sanctioned by the Constitution. Statistics on the present situation in Polish prisons and temporary detention places in this regard, obtained at the Bureau of Prisons, provide valuable evidence for the actual picture on the ground.
