Summary/Abstract: This study deals with the question how to rehabilitate practical philosophy using the example of contemporary hermeneutic ethics, the meaning of philosophical ethics in general, and the principles of its relationship towards historical and political reality. The problems of ethics and practical philosophy are expounded through an interpretation of the contributions by Schutz, Spaemann, and Gadamer. The author demonstrates that the ethics of contemporary phenomenological-hermeneutic and practical philosophy is no longer restricted by the problems of individual ethical systems or by' its proper methods but is instead turned towards the global problems of our contemporary world.
