Summary/Abstract: Divorce remains a profound theological challenge in every age of Christianity. How can we preach about a text unfitting the practices of our age vis-à-vis the conjugal ethics? In order to strengthen contemporary marital relationships, one needs to understand and evaluate the specific contexts of this teaching within Jesus’ time, during the age of the Early Church and in our era respectively.
