THE SECESSION PAINTINGS ILLUSTRATED IN THE PALACE OF CULTURE FROM TÂRGU MUREȘ

Summary/Abstract: The inside of the palace is decorated with a series of murals paintings representative of the Hungarian Secession designed by the artists from Gödölo colony: Körösföy Kriesch Aldár, Nagy Sándor, Thoroczkai Wigand Ede şi Roth Miksa, they had combined fashionable trends from that era by calling the Japanese art, medieval and Byzantine art resulting in an asymmetrical space full of decorations. The main feature of these paintings is that the plans are confused and surface is dematerialized by the 2dimension feature of the surface. In the works with human figures, the hieratism seen in an isolated manner, creates a harmonious atmosphere that garnishes the compositions. The inside decorations is much more complex and much richer than the one from the outside of the palace, characterized by linear, rhythmic and repetitive forms. The mural paintings follow faithfully the characteristics of symbolism exploring a rich and varied repertoire of vegetal and animal figures.
