Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is an attempt to answer the question whether for the improvement of competitiveness of today’s enterprises it is necessary to overcome barriers and entering into relationships of cooperation not only with suppliers or customers, but also with more difficult, less predictable partners − competitors. Is coopetition either a form of cooperation that is waiting in the near future for all well-managed organizations or is it the ideal which is impossible to be fulfilled in real economic life? Is it therefore worth investing in the processes of trust management or is it a waste of time and capital? The considerations are based on theories of: trust, cooperation and coopetition. The article is complemented by the results of tests demonstrating the real use of coopetition in the functioning of an organization.
