Summary/Abstract: The article is a development of the author's statement about the construction of national power, delivered during the panel of the Security Forum, organized by the Casimir Pulaski Foundation in Warsaw, June 2018. The reasons for which explicit actions, and in particular conflicts at the military level, lose their importance in the projection of power struggles in the geopolitical space have been explained. Due to the inability to distinguish between natural phenomena and those induced by man, as well as in the circumstances of concealing the actor's identity and participation of non-state actors, key impacts are show to be difficult to detect or even define or recognize as an act of war. The aspirations of entities to dilute accountability and obtain plausible deniability cause that the authors of geopolitical analyzes lose the ability to use the apparatus borrowed from the exact sciences and inevitably more and more often are forced to rely on speculation. The key section of the article is the concept of asabiyah, i.e. the ability to achieve collective goals, which the author considers to be the centre of gravity in clandestine conflicts, that is the main target to be influenced by hostile action. In summary, the author presents original concepts of solutions that should be applied in Poland in these circumstances.
