Summary/Abstract: It is fairly believed that in non folklore genre the spiritof the people is more pronounced than in proverbs and sayings. Cultural information is stored in their internal form, which, as a figurative representation of the world, gives them an ethno-cultural coloring. Proverbial concepts own and strange (which are also members of the archetypical binary opposition own – strange) are considered in this article. The concept own is related to the native speakers of all three considered languages with concepts such as “close”, “related”, “comprehensible”, “safe”, “harmonious”,“organized”, etc. And the concept strange is associated in their minds as “strange”, “unnatural”, “incomprehensible”,“chaotic”, and ultimately “hostile” and “dangerous”. The attitude of people to the components of such categorization serves as a guide for them in their actions, contacts with each other. Particular attention is paid to the analysis of the concepts guest and neighbor in Russian, Romanian and Bulgarian paremias. The article notes that the roots of many stereotypes originate in the paremic fund. Stereotypes fixed in paremias are reflected in the behavior and relations to others. In connection with the above, a study of this subject has an unquestionable exit into practice.
