Summary/Abstract: The present study tries to highlight the symbolical representation of the expression ”good man” as it appears in stories for children and in carols. Three stories for children written by Ion Creangă – ”The Story of a Pig”, ”Fiveloaves of bread”, ”Ivan Turbincă” are analyzed. This way,we meet the “good man” or the ”good woman” as traveler in search of a denouement for his/her destiny; the “goodman” as a hospitable person or participant in the feast; and the merciful “good man”, beloved by God, who has access to Heaven, but who does not renounce to several sins in order to accomplish God’s will. There are also studied a few carols, which are addressed to the “good man”, the Christian or the one close to become a Christian. The carols bring the Christian message about the nativity ofJesus Christ. The expression “good man” receives different meanings, all reunited under the big idea of the accomplished, discovered or followed Good.
