Summary/Abstract: In Romania during Ceauşescu’s communist regime, education is controlled by state and politicized, with a significant role in shaping the “new man” dependent on a binding ideology. One of the priorities of education in schools will be the patriotic education of pupils, their training in the communist spirit. The role of studying poetry in schools is mainly to form the political consciousness of the pupils, not the literary one. The communism lacks aesthetic assessment of the poets, the only important rule for publication and presence in the textbooks is the reflection in the works of the communist values. The children will suffer from the excesses of the regime. Authors of literary value are replaced in the Romanian textbooks by writers whose texts serve the interests of the single party.
