Summary/Abstract: This article is focused on systemizing about Romanian influences in Eugen Ionescu's work, especially about certain obvious common elements from Tudor Arghezi's work. Eugen Ionescu admitted his descent from Caragiale and Urmuz, but he also mentioned that he was influenced by the surrealist poets and especially by Tristan Tzara. We can also identify other important coordinates with the Arghezian prose and playwriting, as the satire, the grotesque, the presence of autobiographical elements and the absurd that anticipates Eugen Ionescu’s conversational strategies.
