Summary/Abstract: Mircea Eliade discovered very early the importance of the traditional and folkloric discourse in explaining the rituals and beliefs of people. Thus, he started to pursue and study what he called "the presence of the fantastic", revealing the familiarity of the popular literature and the common ground for different religious traditions.
