Summary/Abstract: The ritual ‒ lads of the village - from the Upper Valley of Marca follows a pattern spread throughout the country. Archaicity is demonstrated by the recurrence of agrarian, vegetal or floral symbols. The Roman winter holidays, the Geto-Dacian legacy, the Greek-Latin mythology, the initiation rite and the popular belief and religious belief also impress the ritual. No interference from Saxons or Szeklers is recorded.
