Summary/Abstract: The Refugee concept, as defined in the 1951 Refugee Convention, the 1967Additional Protocol and the Statute of the United Nations High Commissioner forRefugees, was broadened by the adoption of extended definitions on refugees in thecontext of legal instruments emerged at regional level. Larger concepts of this type havebeen introduced in various forms in the legislation of some countries. However, theprovisions with the largest application are those contained in the 1951 Convention andthe 1967 Protocol.
