Summary/Abstract: The verb guide, Romanian as a Foreign Language the Verb, is a new working instrument which addresses to those interested in deepening their Romanian language knowledge. The volume contains, besides the 70 tables of verbs, conjugated at all the modes and tenses, 7 summary tables which offer the possibility to practise the verbal forms with the help of the tables, of the verb conjugation models at different modes and tenses, 700 verbs given as examples and 561 proverbs. As it is also a collection of thoughts, aphorisms, proverbs, this work gives samples of thinking and sensitivity representative for our culture, sources of moral and educational training. The proverbs deal with different themes and they are alphabetically grouped, according to the verb they contain. The work presents the role of the proverbs to favour the memorization, to get the attention and to facilitate the learning. All this contribute to the development of socio-cultural competence by assimilating some knowledge referring to the Romanian culture, to the interpersonal relations, to the thinking way, to the cultural values and to the paremiological richness of the people. As sometimes they are short, elliptic, other times rhythmic or rhymed, they are easy to be kept in mind. The proverbs express the essence, give conclusions, they are suggestive and they are worth a thousand words. Moreover, they urge to action. The work presents the cultural and educational role of the proverbs, practical ways to use them, types of exercises, working in team and interactive games.
