Summary/Abstract: The paper in the synthetic way presents history of the university chaplaincy of Catholic University of Lublin during the years 1944-1989. It was the oldest and the most influential center of pastoral work in Lublin. It discusses the most important forms of activity (religious and intellectual formation, charity work). The author also draws attention to the political context of pastoral activity. The article emphasizes ways and methods the chaplaincy accomplished its essential goal: to create a mature Christians who consciously and responsibly effect on their social environment.
