N. D. COCEA: ”VINUL DE VIAŢĂ LUNGĂ”OR THE LONGEVITY OF AMBIGUITY

Summary/Abstract: Traditionally seen by the Romanian literary criticism as a journalist and a talented pamphleteer, but only as a minor writer, N. D. Cocea endures in Romanian literature first of all because of “Vinul de viaţă lungă”, a work with an uncertain narrative status (tale / short story / novel). In the course of time, the exegesis approached this literary work from various hermeneutical perspectives, of which the most productive is probably the symbolic approach, which re-assigns the text to the fantastic genre, therefore reporting it (critically) to this genre’s conventions.
