THE ROLE OF THE CATEGORIAL ADJECTIVE IN THE TERMINOLOGICAL SYNTAGM

Summary/Abstract: The concept is a mental construct that contributes to the ordering of individual object in the outer world. The terminological syntagm allows for realization of differences/oppositions of conceptual units of the real world objects and/or of the abstract reality. In theory, the categorial adjective adds a certain type of information/a certain conceptual feature through its capacity to individualize the object denominated by the noun. It is the assertion we start from in our research. The role of the categorial adjective, patterns of actualization of distinctive features through the categorial adjective, the role of the categorial adjective in structures with interdisciplinary terms are a few of our research intentions. One of the conclusions of our research is that, though to an infinitely smaller extent than the qualifying adjective, the conceptual sphere of the categorial adjective presents certain degrees of conceptual/specialised openness.
