Summary/Abstract: One of the biggest problems of Romanian citizens in the 1980s was the lack of food on the market. This situation was generated by Nicolae Ceauşescu, who decided in the early 80’s to pay in advance entire external debt of the country by increasing the Romanian exports of food and decreasing the imports of ordinary goods. On the same time, the communist authorities from Bucharest used mass-media for saying that they had obtained new records of agriculture’s production. Of course, these were big lies and the Romanian citizens knew that very well but they didn’t have courage to fight against the Communist regime led by Nicolae Ceauşescu.
