Summary/Abstract: Goal –The purpose of the article was to present a proposal of profitability calculation for plantproduction taking into account biological benefits.Research methodology – In the article, the idea of the account was presented on the example oflegume production. It was assumed that peas were grown in the first year, while rapeseed was grown inthe second year. The article assumes that, from the economic point of view, the subsequent influenceof the legumes on the soil and the yield of crops grown after them is not taken into account in thecalculations.Score – The research shows that the cultivation of legumes on the farm brings tangible benefits inthe following years. Biological benefits accounted for 2% of total income for pea cultivation, and 19%for rape cultivation in the analysed period..Originality / value – When assessing the economic competitiveness of legumes in relation to cerealsand oilseed rape, farmers often forget to take into account the additional benefits (biological benefits)resulting from the cultivation of the former.
