AN EXAMPLE OF USE OF LOCAL VALUES AS INSPİRATİON İN ART: TROİA EXHİBİTİON

Summary/Abstract: Today it can be said that for contemporary artists, reaching the resources that can be used as a source of inspiration in the design and production of artworks is becoming richer and easier than ever. Especially the Anatolian lands constitute the inspiration for artists with the civilizations which they have hosted and the richness they have left behind. When we look at artworks produced in the past, it is an inevitable fact that the mythology and religious issues are among the main subjects. The ancient Troia city is also very important for world literature with its mythology, it is known that the beginning of western literature begins with the legend of Iliad, which deals with Troia. While this is the case, it can be seen thathe number of works of art about Iliad and Troia is quite high. In the light of ongoing archaeological excavations and new discoveries, information about Troia is getting richer every year. Thus, it is inevitable to convert the obtained data into new works of art. In this exhibition, stratification and the architectural structures of Troia, elements of demolition and resistance considered as plastic and are shaped by a structural understanding. With a non-monotonic form richness of different surfaces on the sculptures, a different view can be seen from every angle. It can be said that the themes in the Troia exhibition have been carried on national and international scale using local resources and fulfilled an important function in the representation of our culture. From this point, it can be seen that this exhibition's which we have realized, the process of formation, design and production phases in an ideological sense, is a promising example at the point of production of artworks today.
