Summary/Abstract: The paper discusses the ways of representing the valency of nouns in the entries of the valency dictionary Walenty. The analysis is focused on nouns that are derivationally related to verbs. The article overviews the principles of representing valency on both the syntactic and the semantic level, as well as the specificity of nominal entries, with a reference to the Polish wordnet {PlWordnet (Słowosieć)}, which is used to identify meanings in {Walenty}. However, the paper concentrates mainly on the essential feature of the dictionary, i.e. subscribing derivationally related nouns and verbs under common semantic valency frames. This dependency enabled the authors to analyze how the main syntactic arguments of verbs are represented in nominal constructions, and to what extent their syntactic form depends on the semantic role assigned to the particular argument.
