Formal description of the syntax of expressions with jako by means of predicative control

Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes the morphosyntactic and syntactic properties of the word jako 'as' and their description in different approaches. It is shown that the existing solutions are very often incorrect or at least incomplete, especially when we try to look at them from the point of view of valency (which requires distinguishing "predicate-connected" jako, i.e. opening an independent position, from jako "dependent-connected"). Tests intended to distinguish these two types of jako are also presented. At the end of the article, a method of formal description of jako is proposed, using the phenomenon of predicative control, which allows for the agreement of certain parameters of the controllee (jako phrase) with its controller.
