Summary/Abstract: The article covers theoretical considerations regarding threats resulting from the phenomenon of Dutch disease caused by development assistance. They are a pretext to show the extreme stage of the "help" of the Dutch disease - defined for the purposes of these considerations "help monoculture". This phenomenon was distinguished on the basis of the analysis of the level of two indicators: the percentage of official development aid (ODA) in the gross national product (GNP) and ODA per capita. Among the countries with the highest rates in the world, a group of small island states has been distinguished: Federated States of Micronesia, Tuvalu, Marshall Islands, Palau, Solomon Islands, Kiribati and São Tomé and Príncipe. Receiving in the long-term (and in significant quantities) development assistance, with the simultaneous economic stagnation in this group of countries, provoked the author to try to answer the questions: to what extent did development aid contribute to the emergence of "aid monoculture" and how permanent is this phenomenon . The article is an introduction to further research of the phenomenon of "aid monoculture".
