Kirgiski syndrom MIRAB
The MIRAB economy in Kirgizstan

Summary/Abstract: The study presents the analysis of the MIRAB economy. This paradigm originally took shape in the MIRAB model of Bertram and Watters – model which was specific for Small Island Developing States (SIDS). The MIRAB economy was measured by two indicators: development aid and remittances from emigrants. The analysis shows that the MIRAB economy appears also in some Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs), especially in Kirgizstan. In this economy development aid and remittances are very high, especially after 2003. This proves that from this time Kirgizstan socio-economic strategy seems to be the MIRAB economy.
