Summary/Abstract: This paper focuses on analyzing the relation between religion and the process of modernization. It characterizes modernization as a potential source of religious innovation, reviews the religious consequences of modernization and presents a model of analysis and several religious forms typical of this process. The last part of the article includes a short description of the secularization process, by focusing on the theoretical references of it and the situation of religious faith and institutions during the communist regime.
