Summary/Abstract: Some place names from six villages in the region of Silistra, north eastern Bulgaria, are discussed in this paper. The toponyms of certain Romanian origin are: Korlanka and Korlanovite nivi <Romanian anthroponym Corlan; Lupaskov kladenets <Romanian anthroponym Lupaș; Sherbanovoto <Romanian anthroponym Șerban; Sapanash kula < Romanian săpunaș ‘soapwort’. It is possible that some other place names are of Romanian origin: Kornatala, probably from Romanian cornețel ‘dogwood forest’; Martana, from Romanian mârtan ‘cat’ or from a Romanian derived form from the name Martin; Pulucu tarla, from Romanian anthroponym Puluc(u). The number of the toponyms of Romanian origin in the studied area is low and most of them are now forgotten by the local population.
