Summary/Abstract: In this experimental study, the mechanical and tribological properties of EPDM rubber, nanokil and compatibilizing agent (PP-g-MA) filled polypropylene polymer materials were investigated. For this purpose four different materials were used. These materials are as follows; PP polymer, PP+20wt.%EPDM, PP+20wt.%EPDM+10wt.%PP-g-MA+2.5wt.% nanokil and PP+20wt.%EPDM+10wt.%PP-g- MA+5wt.%nanokil. PP polymer blend and PP polymer nano-composites, as a granule form, were produced by using an extrusion machine and then mechanical and tribological test samples were molded by an injection molding machine. Tensile and impact tests were performed for evaluation of mechanical properties of the materials used. Tensile strength, tensile modulus, elongation at break, hardness and izod impact strength values were obtained. In order to determine the friction coefficient and the wear rates of the materials, tribological tests were carried out at room temperature under dry sliding conditions at the sliding speeds of 0.5 and 1.0m/s and the loads of 20, 30 and 40N. The results showed that, the tensile strength and tensile modulus decreased while the impact strength and elongation at break increased with the addition of EPDM and nanokil filler into the PP polymer. The coefficient of friction and specific wear rate of PP polymer composites increased with the increment of sliding speed and applied load.
