A cultural heritage of Silesia. A folk song — its values and messages

Summary/Abstract: The work presents the most important values and messages included in Silesian folk songs. It takes into account the immanent values of vocal works (poetical and music ones), exposes contents concerning the worldview sphere of the regional community, as well as moral and aesthetic issues. Also, it highlights the feelings of love and respect towards other people, their family and community. It exposes values connected with work and the ethos of work. The text proves the presence of historical and patriotic contents maintained in folk texts. Also, it underlines the significance of the subject-matter in question that may constitute the source of cognition of one’s own cultural heritage and universal values of a Silesian tradition for a contemporary receiver of the folk song compositions.
