Summary/Abstract: The subject of the studies is funeral superstitions collected and published by Jan Broda. The article presents the profile of the researcher and the overview of source materials. Out of all the series of superstitions, a group functioning in rituals within a family (weddings) and the year (Christmas Eve) was selected. The author discusses a wide range of beliefs and human behaviour related to the time of death, dying and the preparation for the funeral and burial of the deceased. An analytical overview of the funeral superstitions reveals a wide range of beliefs and views on the phenomenon of death and moral behaviour, characteristic of traditional folk culture.
