Summary/Abstract: The Second Department of the Polish General Staff attached great importance to the cooperation with the British, but it was not until the second half of the 1930s that con tacts became more effective. They covered the military potential both of the USSR and Nazi Germany. A true breakthrough in the cooperation took place in April 1939, after the United Kingdom and Poland formalised their mutual military assistance in the event of aggression of the Third Reich.
