Summary/Abstract: The article deals with interests of legionaries in sports participation during World war I and their later activities in various sports associations and clubs. Some of them participated in sporting competitions on the championship level, including Olympic Games. Leading politicians of the Second Polish Republic acted as patrons of sporting events, especially those of high prestige. Especially popular were equestrian competitions, soccer, and chess tournaments.
