Summary/Abstract: Knowledge resources of an organization are regarded as one of the most important resources, and they are an indispensable element for its functioning. The generated knowledge varies depending on the peculiarities of the organization and its employment structure. It means that knowledge and its application have an enormous influence on the successful functioning of the organization, including organizations specializing in healthcare, in particular teaching hospitals. The field of healthcare is very peculiar, because there is no place for errors or ignorance. Moreover, the healthcare sector is an example of a knowledge-based economy, in which the most valuable resource of every organization, including healthcare institutions, are the employees and their efficiency. Knowledge is perceived as one of the most significant elements of the strategic potential of the organization. Its importance in creating the competitive advantage of the organization is constantly growing at the expense of the material resources owned by the organization. Additionally, each group of the medical personnel or the executive staff is using a specialized knowledge and skills, and these are at a different level in a small, regional hospital or in a teaching hospital of a medical university. Moreover, updating knowledge resources of the personnel and improving their qualifications, which results from the legal aspects of the functioning of a hospital, is pivotal. The objective of the article is to show the peculiarities of knowledge management in teaching hospitals.
