Summary/Abstract: Supervision encompasses individual or group sessions for employees conducted in public social care units. Its aims are, among others, developing competencies and the engagement of employees. The reform of the Polish public social care system has proposed a widespread implementation of supervision practices. However, currently in Poland in most social care units supervision has either not yet been implemented or it has been done as a one-off action. The effectiveness of supervision depends on, among others, the features of the cultural environment of social care units. Those features can either support or stifle attitudes and actions of employees, which have been shaped during supervision. The aim of the paper is to outline the features of the cultural environment of social care units, which support the high effectiveness of supervision.
