Summary/Abstract: The study discusses the scope of and rules for financing own and assigned tasks completed by land districts. The author’s attention is focused on the problem of dual nature of the tasks and on determining whether or not the division into own and assigned tasks and their financing are done in accordance with the criterion of „locality” of the tasks; it may be reasonably argued that in view of financial difficulties experienced by the state, the rule of providing sufficient funds to cover expenditures of a land district is increasingly broken. The amounts of income are insufficient not only to carry out development activity, but also to complete current tasks, including those assigned by state administration.
