Summary/Abstract: The present document shows results of an organizational intervention carried out in an SME (which is also a family business), of industrial rotation in the metal-mechanical sector, located in the City of San Luis Potosí, Mexico. The problem of study is that in the family companies there has been no effective management practices, which results in economic losses and inefficient use of resources. The objective of the research was to make a qualitative diagnosis that allowed to identify organizational dysfunctions created from the interaction between the structures and the behaviors of the people. To that end, the methodology of socio-economic management was used, whose approach is to study the organizations from the social and economic perspectives. The scope was the qualitative diagnosis and the selection of an identified problem to transform it, for example, into hidden costs. The main techniques of data collection were interview and direct observation. The results of the research allowed us to identify the dysfunctions and hidden costs generated and led us to conclude about the need for SMEs to open their doors to welcome management practices that allow them to institutionalize their processes.
