The theory of punishment as a communication in the view of Professor Antony

Summary/Abstract: Over the past few years the concept of a punishment as a communication beetwen the society and the offender becomes more and more popular. From this perspective, a punishment is a symbol, some sort of a message which aim is to condemn the offender, to indicate the values which deserve a protection and to inform the society that harm, which has been caused, is wrong to the society and deserves a punishment. The purpose of my argument is to present the concept of a punishment as a communication in the view presented by professor Antony Duff and to analyse this concept’s criticism.
