Summary/Abstract: On-demand economy, also called gig economy is a business model, a form of cooperation, a kind of interaction, a trend, an idea or a form of online activity, which nowadays can be perceived as one of the important components of the new economic reality and economic relations in the 21st century. On-demand economy concerns different areas of human activities and economy including the labour market, transport, family care, or services related to households. The aim of this work is to define the role and importance of the on-demand economy in the global economy of the 21st century and to identify opportunities and threats to the economic security which result from popularization of this trend.
