Summary/Abstract: The aim of the study is to indicate and discuss the effects of selected phenomena, which have been observed in the last two years in Poland and to present them as opportunities or threats to the further development of the Polish economy. The 500+ Family Program has been chosen due to the new applied solutions in social policy, while the migration of Ukrainian citizens to Poland because of the scale of the phenomenon in 2015 and 2016 forecasts its further growth. As important was perceived to examine the impact of selected phenomena on the economy, especially on the labor market. The aim was achieved based on an analysis of the literature and statistical databases. As a result of the analysis it can be stated that while it is possible to evaluate selected phenomena in terms of opportunities and threats to the development of the Polish economy, it is impossible to conclusively determine which type of influence is dominant. While, due to short duration, it is difficult to clearly and objectively assess full effects on the economy of the 500+ Family, so the intensification of migration of Ukrainian citizens, reflecting in the dynamic growth of work permitions and translated into employment growth, seems to be an opportunity for the development of the Polish economy.
