Summary/Abstract: The aim of the paper is to analyse the support for the internationalisation of small and medium-sized enterprises provided by local government units based on the example of the Tomaszów District. The implementation of thus formulated objective required, on the one hand, the assessment of the potential of the studied district in the area of stimulating export activity of its business entities, and on the other hand, conducting research among small and medium-sized enterprises. The quantitative research was carried out among 100 SMEs based in the Tomaszów District in 2017 by means of a survey questionnaire using the CATI method. The surveyed entrepreneurs positively assessed the support of local government units for the development of their export activities, in particular, informational activities and actions promoting the district in foreign markets through the participation in trade fairs and trade missions as well as establishing cooperation with partner cities.
