Summary/Abstract: The article is an attempt to outline shortly the approaches to human consciousness and to describe the Polish tradition in philosophy and psychology of consciousness. The genesis and history of this tradition are also presented. It leads to the clam that the Polish tradition is strongly associated with Franz Brentano?s theory of intentional acts.
