Competitiveness of Familiy Owned SMEs Regarding Their Operational Logistic

Summary/Abstract: At present, organizations are looking to raise its competitiveness by developing more efficient logistical components of their activities, from the basis of the operations of the internal logistics. The objective of this research is to determine the factors that affect the internal logistical process of micro and small enterprises (MSEs) manufacturing of the city of Leon, Guanajuato. The focus of the research is qualitative, since data were gathered from interviews with 23 managers of micro- and small families. These interviews were structured with 14 questions to define, understand and deepen the concepts from the perspective of organizations, analyzing which are the fundamental operations of internal logistics for the organization to achieve its objectives.The following areas were analyzed: support of manufacturing, transportation management, demand management, information technology, organizational skills, as well as organizational development and foreign trade. The results indicate that the mses in Leon Guanajuato considered that the areas of business logistics, that have more weight in the impact of the efficiency of the organization, are: sourcing, manufacturing support, the administration of the demand and transport. This can lead to the mses for managers to focus their attention on these specific areas to achieve a higher level of performance.
