Summary/Abstract: Research concerning family business has received an increasing attention over the past decade by scholars worldwide. This paper describes the number, the structure and the scope of the publication concerning family firms operating in Central Eastern Europe (Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Serbia, Croatia, Romania, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Slovenia). The author analyzes the content of the papers focused on family business indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection during the period 1945 – 2018. The goal of the analysis is to explore the main themes researched. The results show that there still exists a research gap in the subject of family firms operating in CEE countries. Although since 2015 the number of publications in the field has been increasing, now they constitute hardly 2% of all publications indexed in Web of Science. Most of authors focus on family firms, not comparing their behaviour to non-family counterparts.
