Summary/Abstract: The paper focuses on the selection criteria for a glossary of false friends between German and Romanian. The choice of languages imposes certain specific considerations, but others are of a more general nature and can apply for false-friends glossaries between any two languages. These considerations are structured around several important questions: Is it necessary to develop a German-Romanian glossary of false friends? What lexemes should such a glossary contain? Who are the target-users? How should a false-friends glossary be structured? What is the specific influence of the chose language pair on the glossary structure? This article suggests a new, mixed approach in glossary structuring that tries to take into consideration all three dimensions and that can offer useful information to all three categories of users: linguists, language learners and language professionals.
